Not much on a stock Sporty other than to power the instruments, horn and brake light. Like almost any other vehicle, the Acc circuit is there to provide switched power for add on devices that you might want to operate without the motor running and all the "always on" lights burning. Some people do mount radios and GPS's for instance.

The only theory I can come up with for why it's happening is the relocated position causes the switch to shake with the engine (its mounted on the starter ground bolt if i recall correctly), which is cutting grooves in the key. Sometimes it takes a few minutes of shaking and pullling to get the damned key out of the switch.. I'd rather have a hidden toggle than deal with that.
It's more than a theory, vibration and key locks doesn't usually work out too well in the long run.

Sounds like I have some shopping to do for my next project. Thanks for the info

When buying a toggle switch for this mod I recommend using a switch with a minimum rating of 30 amps. This switch is used to feed 3 15A fused circuits.

What Id like to do is have a proximity key fob like some newer cars have. If the fob is close to the bike just hit a button and it will start......if its not .........it wont start.

If your bike has the Harley proximity key fob alarm installed, you basically have it. You'd just need to rewire the Run/Stop switch to drive a DPST 30A power relay that replaces the key switch. Once you walk away from the bike with the fob, it can't be started, even if someone throws the switch. Have the fob present, switch to Run and press Start, away you go.

OR, you could try this....

So I went to the auto parts store and bought the smallest 30 amp toggle switch I could find, drank a few beers deciding where to mount it.. Started to tear into it and realized the switch didn't look very water proof. I ride through some incredible storms sometimes; won't the switch just short out when it gets wet? Anyone else done this before?

Edit.. sorry for hijack, I started my own thread for this question here
