If the bike is not to dirty, I use "Pig Spit" motorcycle cleaner and no water. It works great, can be used onany part, paint, chrome, rubber, leatherand so on.You can clean the engine with it and dont have to wipe if off.You can get it at walmart.

LoL, not sure where you came to that conclusion...

'Simple Green' is manufactured and distributed by Sunshine Makers, Inc/Simple Green, Huntington Harbour, CA.

'S-100' is manufactured in Germany and is distributed by Brookside Import Specialties, Branford, CT.

Also, if you check the chemicals content of the product you will find that they are not the same...

Also, the S-100 I use is a light 'foam mist aerosol', and not a liquid spray.

Im a newby .. to bikes .... but all my udder vechicles always get compliments ...

I use Meguiars products and ******* chrome and aluminum cleaner. Meguiars swirl remover for the light scratches. I do have a nic in the paint .... read somewhere on this board that some touch up paint, a lite hand and a toothpick is the best way to go here.

Drying is the biggest pain I have. But instead of having go out and buy anudder vac, I use the vac I have for the Vans and truck. I reverse the hose and bought a very narrow attachment. Blows so good that the vac sometimes blows the attachment off the hose end.

I still havent got down how to clean the spots on the aluminum wheels that my hand cant reach. I also found, during todays washing, nasty cruddy build up .. prolly street oil and stuff on the bottom of the bike. Suspect either engine bright or oven cleaner would do well here.

But I LOVE these kinds of posts ... can pick up some good tricks.

Meguiars makes some good $hit. Haven't used it on my bike (yet) but have used it on cars for over 30 years.

next time you go to your dealer look at the white bottle of S-100 the kind you spray on it is a light green in color and see for your self it is simple green. s-100 is simple green bottled for harley that is why it cost so much.

I don't buy S100 from a Harley Davidson outlet.

We get it in case lot's from a distributor, and no, it isn't 'green'.

Once again, check the chemical contents, and where they are manufactured..

Very controversial subject. I go to the do it yourself car wash and be careful not to put high pressure water on sealed hubs, instruments and electrical. I have never hada problem doing this but it is a big no-no to alot of people.

For light clean up I like Lemon Pledge on painted surfaces and Windex on chrom surfaces.
I will 2nd the comment about where you aim high pressure water. Personally, I have only taken my bike to the car wash ONCE, and I was very careful about where I was spraying the water. In early December, I had taken it in to have new fork seals put in ...they found water inside the front hub, along with the remainder of the grease, and metal shavings that USED to be part of my front end bearings.

For washing at home, I use automotive soap, or Meguiars Detailing spray, depending on how dirty it is.

i always cover the hand controls with plastic bags to prevent me from getting water in the hand controls and always spray downwards to keep from getting water under gas tank and seat where all the wiring is located. oh i aways try not to get water around the speedo also.
