Once again I'd like to tap and vast knowledge gathered here. I've only had my Sporty since November and had itwashedand waxedby the dealer three times during maintenance/oil change - upgrades. When doing it myself what are some tips for a professional look (I've added even more chrome to the Custom). And... What are the things to avoid so I don't hurt the finish, electrical system, etc. Thanks, Jeff
Very controversial subject. I go to the do it yourself car wash and be careful not to put high pressure water on sealed hubs, instruments and electrical. I have never hada problem doing this but it is a big no-no to alot of people.
For light clean up I like Lemon Pledge on painted surfaces and Windex on chrom surfaces.
I just use the old bucket, wash mitt and garden hose. I use Meguiars car wash soap and S-100 cleaner sometimes. after washing and drying I use S-100 wax, it is the best wax I have ever seen. I like how it won't stain platic pieces with that white crap amd it goes on and off like butter. Best looking shine ever.
I use the Mr. Clean AutoDry Car Wash System every weekend. It's really fast and easy. I use my leaf blower for a quick dry. If you read the reviews the main con is the cost of refills, but if you only use it on your bike they last a long time.
Try scratch x by Meguiars for the key. I haven't tried it on my bike yet, I hear it is great. See here for more info...https://www.hdforums.com/forumid_219/tt.htm This should keep you busy for a while. Enjoy.
