Default quick question?

well i'm starting the tear down process for my bike, i have been following mreed and bmxatv's threads on chopping the rear fender. my only question is has anyone done this with a custom fender, i only see nightster fenders on these threads, and i have come to realize there is some mounting holes in middle of my fender that would be right smack in the open once the fender is chopped. thanx

Can you post a photo? I am not exactly sure what you mean by mounting holes in the middle of the fender.

I chopped the fender of my 2007 XL1200R and the the only holes in the middle of the fender (toward the back) were the holes for the plate holder and the tail light.

I am amazed no one posted on your thread because tons of people chop their fender and probably could asnwer all your questions in a second. Rewording your title and posting a picture of the fender might help so that we understand your situation better. Maybe drilling the mounting holes farther back on the fender would help? Or making brackets?

all good guys i think i got it figured out on how exactly i will fill them in. an old wise man welder brought it to my attention that he can fill the hole in by placing a penny underneath(copper one) and slowly filling hole in from top. the penny does not stick and the hole is now full with just a little grinding and sanding to do. i will take pictures of this before and after therefore other can see that it CAN be done.
