It sat for a few months and would not start, found the carb was not getting fuel and thought the petcock had gummed up. I removed the two screws that hold it in place and removed the handle you use to change from on to aux. In the process of re-installing it I broke the O-Ring.
I need a new ring where can I get one, they are very thin?
I stuck one in I had but it is too fat, it is working but almost impossible to move the valve
Take your old o-ring to a autoparts store they have a lot of different sizes.
I did that, no one seems to have the thin O-Ring and the local harley dealer was out of stock checked with several local auto parts stores and even went to Home depot.
where can I order one and what is the part number
If your stuck, you can take super glue and stick it back together, just a little bit and hold
the two ends together for a couple of min.
Some one will be along and give you the part number.
Harley does not sell or list p/n's for the internal petcock parts. The p/n for the petcock body assembly is 62169-02A. Last time I checked the price it was around $25.00 if ordered from an on-line dealer.
No, as said above, the HD Parts Manual only list the body as an assembly.
I was at the harley dealer and they showed me a diagram of the petcock, they showed me the exploded view of the parts and the O-Ring on the screen and then informed me that they did not have any and suggested I go to an auto parts store, I went to three places and no one has the very thin O-Ring. Gotta have the O-Ring to switch between on/off/res
I hate to buy a complete valve just because I just need an O-Ring.
Did you ask about ordering one or some? I could probably use one, mine's 22 and never been changed. If it's shown on their catalog, there should be a way to obtain I'd think.
How about getting the specific dimensional description from the dealer (or tech dept.), and looking on the internet? There has to be some Harley engineering plans that call for this specific "O" ring.
