i really like the short, clean fender of the 48/nightster/72 as opposed to the long fender of my superlow which is also crowded with a license plate and tail light, but i also really like the fat tank and low profile tires on my super low as opposed to whats on the other models, so here's my solution
before:
so i bought a used fender off ebay for 100 bucks:
and a relatively cheap side mount plate bracket for 30 bucks (ebay also) and wired my turn signals back into my harness, and for a stop/tail light i took an old front turn signal (since it was 3 wire) that i had lying around and mounted it with the license plate:
and here is the finished look, im pretty happy with this:
Looks good man, that is similar to how mine was set up for awhile....except my tail light is an old rat rod style, but it was way too crowded back there for my own taste. You could also look into the HD run/turn/brake module its like 60 bux plugs right in then you can lose the bullet taillight, and use your turns as a brake also, just a suggestion.
*also If you are required to have that plate lit up try it with the tails cause mine were way bright and lit up fine, otherwise they make small led strips that you can wire in for a more sleek look
