Default 2001 Sportser XLH custom 1200 stock riser

I have been reading where everyone says it looks ugly and one of my buddies told me while we were riding that it kinda looked like crap. I think they are oem
and about 5 inches or more. I want to go to what ever oem is that sits way lower but my speedo and gauge lights are all attached. Looks like if I went with oem riser the speedo and gauge would bolt right back up. I am just not sure how to go about finding out what I need or where to look. I think they are risers or bar clamps. Can anyone help?

If you're talking about the fugly chrome block on the 1200C it has connector fitings in it, and the speedo hits the tank if it's removed for stock risers. You can buy Sporty risers that are 1-1/2" on ebay for 25 bucks, but then you have to deal with the speedo and all of the connectors. I did it on my '96 custom.

i was thinking of relocating my speedo and buying the top of the riser that has the holes for the engine warning lights. i am just not sure what all is back there/? what wires and connectors are back there? im about to say screw it and keep the riser and put on z bars.

You probably will be better off with the plan you have of keeping the riser block. Inside of that block is the stuff that is usually stuffed inside of the headlight. Two long multi-wire connectors, one for each handlebar control box , as well as the wires for the dashboard indicators and speedo. I couldn't stand it so I removed the gas tank and the handlebar controls, speedo, dash and cut back the wiring harness and removed everything but the oil pressure light, the neutral light and the horn. I did the same with my last sporty. I drilled a red and green light into the headlight bucket for neutral/oil pressure, and put a small momentary button internally wired for a horn. I have a set of riserless bars on order from Pangea Speed. This is radical, but really cleans up the bars. I'm not done with the bars yet but here's a pic of my last Sporty cleaned up.

Why do you care what your buddies think looks cool? It's your scoot, they ain't helping you with any $$$ on it are they? If you don't like it, that's different. Plenty of options for you, but if you change it, like said above, you'll have connectors and wires to deal with that cost $$$.
JMHO.

Could I just tuck all that wiring under the tank with a tank lift?
