A buddy of mine sent me a message this morning stating.
"Went to start my bike this morning it turned over twice then popped and now it wont turn over. I can hear the starter whining and the battery has a good charge."
I believe its a 2000 model or around there Sporty, any idea where he should start looking to fix the issue?
He should check the maxi fuse which is under the triangular cover just to the rear of the battery & below the seat. There's no need to unscrew the cover screws, as the just mount it to some rubber grommets.....Just pull on the whole cover.
If the starter is "whining", as in it's spinning but the motor is not turning over when he hits the start button, that would indicate that the problem is with the starter itself, most likely the starter clutch not engaging or the starter clutch gear is stripped.

We need more information, is it silent any noise at all, any clicking, do light come on.
Without that then check the battery connections first.
