I can't find anything about my engine by the letters and numbers stamped on the case. I wish there were an easy way to read them. Can someone tell me what I've got?
BMLV028060
I'm pretty sure its an FLSTF (Fat Boy) 1340 Evo, but what year?

OK, so here is what I understand:
My case numbers are BMLV028060 BM = FLSTF (Fat Boy) L = 1340 cc EVO V = 1997 028= ? 060 = March 1st date of build in 1997
Am I right so far?
Thanks for all your expertise in deciphering. I wish there was an easier way, but I feel like I'm almost there.

I don't think you can determine the build date by the VIN. For example, my build date was September 14, 2017. The last six numbers of my VIN are 613111. I don't see any correlation between 613111, and September 14, 2017.
If your engine number is not in the same format as in WHS's reply, your engine may also be custom, in which case post some photos so we can take a close look at it (the engine, not the bike, although we would like that too!)
