I have an '07 883L with Stage1 plus torque inserts. I'm 5'9" 225# and don't have problems with highway riding. I ride at around 70mph and still have enough reserve power for passing if needed. More power is always a good thing but I don't think you'll have problems with highway riding.

Tony:

I put the smaller rubber insert pegs off of a Nightster on my 2012 Superlow. They fit great, increase lean angle and look better...$39.98 each from the dealer.....and they put your feet closer to the brake and shifter.

Just took a stroll down to Glendale Harley-Davidson in Glendale California, the coolest Harley dealer I've ever been to BTW, and they had a used 2013 Superlow right next to a 2009 XL1200L and yes indeed, the difference is all in the footpeg itself. Boy is that Superlow footpeg goofy! Felt like a lady at the lady doctor with my legs splayed out like that. On the plus side, the Superlow saddle felt about 8,000 times more comfortable than the one on the 1200 Low.

I'm 6' and 275 pounds, and the Superlow (hate that name) didn't feel at all like a toy when I sat on it. Just for laughs last year I sat on a Honda 250 Rebel... now THAT is a toy!

I've been going back and forth on getting a Harley for several years, haven't had a bike since 1990. Sure, a Road King would be the best fit for me, but if all I can afford is a Sporty, that'll be fine.

Just have to swap those goofball footpegs.

Thumbs up

There is a funny story behind the low Sporties. The first was a Hugger, unashamedly promoted for the petite lady rider. That quickly became politically incorrect, so the link with the fair sex was disconnected and we got gender neutral Low and now SuperLow. Putting 275 pounds on one seems a bit unkind!

However I love the look of mine, so put such thoughts behind me. Mine is now a Super-not-so-Low, with longer rear shocks and raised forks, to improve suspension travel. All that is left to change is a taller seat, to improve riding position, plus those improved footrests, which thanks to this thread are now on my shopping list.

Why does it matter if its one guy thats 275 or a couple riding 2 up. The Superlow doesn't have any problem with 300 lbs.

The Superlow (yes I also hate the name) is my first bike and I love it. Still getting used to it. I am 5'4" and about 130lbs. If you're used to bikes you're not gonna have a problem at all, for complete newbies who are on the smaller side getting used to the weight takes a while but that's all.

With that being said my boyfriend, about 5 11 (I think!) looked hilarious on it it'd deffo need a few mods doing for the taller folk I think.

That's interesting. Will look into this myself.

and grbrown, if you remove the metal bits that stick out, I suppose there goes your warning for leaning over a little too much? Plus they will fold up automatically if you lift your weight off a bit, right?

That was a joke!

Those metal bits will catch your legs when walking round your bike in the garage, catch your jeans while sitting on your bike and REDUCE your ground clearance! They are indeed there for neurotic safety reasons, but are also a safety hazard. They are easy to take off, but we can each make that choice.

I took the stock footpegs off and put on the mini-floorboards. Love them! Gives me more foot support plus I'm not catching my pant legs on the metal bits when putting my feet down at a stop.
