Oil change question
Oil and motor technology have also come a long way since the 60's, when virtually all vehicle manufacturers called for a 3,000 mile oil change interval because that was the real life expectancy of the oil. The oil you use today, is not the same thing your father or grandfather used in their day.
BTW, the 3000 mile recommendation you still see today often comes from those little reminder stickers the repair shops and quick change oil places put on your windshield to remind you when your next oil change is due. The 3,000 mile interval often written on those stickers isn't about increasing the big oil companies profits, it's about increasing the profits of the oil change businesses.
