Default harley speedometer question
2005 speedometer....if you change the speedometer out is it just plug and play or does it need to be coded?

Well say you replaced it with a good one. Dakota is plug and play. And if you want the odometer changed over to the new one, they need to do it for you.. Really depends what you want I think

just looking at a different looking harley speedometer...used...wondering if its from the same model if it will just plug in and work or if it has to be coded like for security or anything like that.

If it's from an 05 Sportster than yes it would be plug in play but how would that look any different? You aren't talking about the one Harley makes with the tach built in are you?

its a factory gauge...i have a black faced gauge and the one i want has a silver face....

some spedo vids show plugging the new one in to flash it with the odometer reading at an aux connector near the battery
