White smoke and noise from the starter when starts
Hello guys!
i have a strange problem with my 94 sporty. when it is hot its usually starts good.
after several hours brake (or morning) it start with "crack" noise and white smoke and burned electricity smell comes from the starter area. i reassembled the starter , tight the connections... any ideas guys?

The "crack" noise and associated smoke is usually generated from an electrical arc created from a loose positive electrical connection, either at the starter or the battery when the starter pulls a full [current] draw on a cold battery. If both these connections are tight and the cable/connectors are in good shape then it may be the positive post of the starter solenoid...is it loose? It's common to loosen and overtighten this post and even damage the solenoid itself if you don't double wrench the connection when tightening or loosening it for whatever reason, as it's only plastic. If it's loose it may be arcing internally, or, your starter is "starting" [bad pun I know] to go...
Smoke makes electrical things work. You let the smoke out.........it quits working. Harley sells smoke, follow the manual (you did buy one didnt you?) and put the smoke from harley back in the starter...........you should be good to go.
