Hoping some kind person could answer a few questions? I got a brand new 72 so it will be the first time in a long time I don't just clean it with whatever I have lying around. I have windex with ammonia for the painted spots so that's all set. I do have a new thing of mothers chrome polish, however, is everything else doable with mothers? Is all that shines chrome or do I need aluminum cleaner for anything else. Figured I'd ask someone before I wipe some water spots and grime of the stock spoked wheels.
all of the above- dont be afraid to wash it down with normal car shampoo. i then use a leaf blower (that has never seen a leaf) to dry it almost all of the way. finish off the drying and then i put some easy waxes on the paint (there is so little paint that its an easy and quick job). the hardest part for my bike is the spokes... those take some 000 synthetic pads. as to the chrome parts- any decent chrome cleaner/polish is just fine. i then hit them with the wax/synthetic also.
detail sprays after every other ride keep the bike like new always. since i live not far from the beach this part is important to keep the salt air from eating the bike!
btw, i can go for 4 or 5 months before i wash the bike... its the detail spray that makes this possible.
