Hi
My son has a 86 Sportster and he is installing andrews cams in it. My son says the 2 double hole spacers that are between the cams and the block had the bevel side of the spcers pointing out toward the cam and I'm thinking the bevel has to go toward the block so that the cams will ride on the flat surface. Can someone that knows absolutely for sure which direction there suppose to go tell me?
Also I'm thinking the purpose of the bevel is to feed oil to the needle bearings, is this accurate?
Thanks
8. On 1986-1990 models, install both cam gear plates in
their gearcase recesses. Position the cam gear plates so the
beveled side of the holes faces toward the cams.
This is from my manual. Let me know if it doesn't help
ThAnkyou that defiantely helps. My son remeasured the new Andrew cams against the stock cams and found out the Andrew cams are .037 shorter so that explains the excessive end play so he will have to get some shims.
