I bought my 48 New, I could have spent the 13k on a used big twin but now that is not what I wanted, I fall in the class of motorcycle riders that actually loves the sportster. Any bike bigger would fail to give me the pure enjoyment I get when riding the sporty.

Some people just want to look good going down the street the rest of us want a bike that not only looks good but that can handle twistee better, can get us from light to light faster and does not kill us in fuel.

Some people do not want to buy a used motorcycle. They just don't like the idea of having something they have no idea what has been done to it. Much nicer feeling to buy it new and keep it knowing all the history. That being said in NH 4 or 5 months are all we have to ride a year so the smartest buy from an economical view is the sportster unless you want that big monthly payment all year long. If you don't mind buying used ...well then it's a different story I guess.
