installed big radius and rsd air cleaner..sound right?
Just installed my big radius pipes on my 48 as well as an rsd air cleaneer. However I have never heard an aftermarket exhaust before so I am not sure if this sounds right
Please view the video and help me out
took it out for a ride tonight. What I noticed was loud popping which i assume is backfiring. anyone figure out how to solve this issue with the big radius?
Sound clip sounds just like my Cycle Shacks. The popping is due to a lean condition. Your air/fuel mixture needs more fuel. Meaning you need a different map. You have a Power Commander V according to your other thread, correct? Who did you buy it from? They may have a suitable map for your combo. Whatever map they gave you is running too lean. If they don't have a suitable map, you may need to get a Dyno tune which will give you a custom map. Popping should stop with a good Dyno tune. Mine pops on occasion, but it's very rare. If I get a pop, it will do it under heavy engine breaking, which I rarely do anyway.
BTW, the popping is created by the unspent fuel in the exhaust being detonated in the muffler due to the high presence of O2. To fix the extra O2 problem, you add more fuel to the mixture so nearly all of the O2 is burnt in the engine, not the mufflers. Once the air/fuel mixture is correct, the popping stops.

This is good advice, but I would check the simple stuff first. Too much air can also be caused by a leak at the intake, eliminate that possibility first, especially if you just installed that new air cleaner. Might be as simple as a bolt not tightend enough, or mating parts not seated just right, search around on how to check, it's a pretty easy process.
