i'm new here. i have had hot rod cars since i was young. i'm not new to working on anything. i road honda street bikes when i was young and gave it up for some reason. after a health issue last year i went ahead and purchased my ideal bike. it's a 2007 harley 1200 xl custom sportster. i have changed the seat to a solid white sully's seat and i'll be having 12 inch mini apes put on it this week.
it has vance and hines short shot pipes on it and a volisity stack intake(breather on a car). i've got a k&n big sucker(or heavy breather i think you guys call it) to mount on it as well. i had the numbers on the motor and it is a 2009 1200cc motor for sure. the bike just turned 30,000 miles this week. it had 29,600 on it when i got it.
i have noticed at times the motor seems to died when i let out of the throttle at certon speeds, and it idles a little fast when i first start it up. after it warms up it goes back down to a lower idle(i guess a warm up cycle or something). the bike does perform well. i have rode with a friend of mine with a nighttrain with a big jug kit on it and i have no problem keeping up with him at all, i just have these few little problems.
the bike shop i got it from went over it and checked everything out on the bike before i purchased it. they said the bike was basically done when they got it. they just checked everything and put the demin black paint and harley skull on the tank.
here is what i want to ask you guys about. the o2 sensors have been removed and plugged. the plugs have been tack welded. i removed the seat and seat pan and it has the factory ecm. i figure with the upgrades done it could have a stage 1 flash done to it maybe.
i would like to put a good tuner on it. it will need to be re-adjustable becuase i plan on changing cams this winter to a slightly more agressive camshaft.
any ideals from you guys on the best tuner for what i want to do and if the ecm could be cuasing the stumbling when i let off the throttle and the high idle at times, becuase sometimes it idles back up even after it is warm.
Nice looking bike, congrats. A Powervision would work great for your application and you can tune and retune it to your heart's content. You can also add some wide band O2 sensors in with it and let it autotune.

The op said the 02 sensor holes have been plugged and welded so a powervisions auto tune wont work (unless you somehow get the plugs out)...so he may be better off with a PCV and a canned map..
thanks alot guys. i love the looks of the bike and how it rides. the best thing is everyplace i go people ask me about it.
i have looked at a tuner from dynatek. it has four adjustment settings on it. what would be the best tuner to use on this bike? the o2 sensors are just tack welded. i could take my cutting wheel on my air compresser and brake the tack weld easily. i want to get it up to its best it can be right now. this winter cams will be changed, heads ported and polished and maybe a few other mods so like i said a re-tunable tuner is a must.

you'll need the O2 ports for a proper tune, PV Autotune or not. Canned maps are garbage for the long haul and are just to get you started in a "direction".
let me ask like this. i'll get the plugs out and the o2 sensors back in it. would a screaming eagle race tuner be a good tuner on this bike? i'll buy the wires i need and pay hd for the programs i need. i know i'd need to wait till this winter when i change the cams, do the head work and other mods i'm looking at before i install it becuase it will marry itself to the bike.
i have been doing searches and the power vission is a great looking unit. i might end up going that route. i could put the screaming eagle on it this year and ride it, after all the work i could put the power vission on it.
waste of money if you ask me. I'd go PV right from the get go. SEPST, you'll always be dependent on someone to tune it for you. What i'd do is buy the PV, run it in autotune basic, that will allow the use of the narrowband O2 sensors but still provide some means of adjustment. Then when the time comes, this winter, purchase the wideband autotune to accompany the PV and you're golden.
