Default Risers

I have a spare set of 4.5" risers and wanting to switch out with the stock one's on my 99 Sportster. I'ld like to go higher but not sure how much extra cable there is. I would think the 4.5" with the longhorn style bars should fit. If not with the stock bar I would like to go with 6 or 8 with a dragbar. Any suggestions on length and fitment for this?

I've gone as high as 10in from the top of the top tree with all stock cables and wiring on a few different sporty's. Just have to reroute the cables and free up some slack in the harness. If it had buckhorns on it already, you should have plenty of extra length. At least up to about 10in total.

Best way of getting more slack? Would it make sense to remove tank and start or pull from the headlight area? Just don't want to stretch one end to much if there is more slack to give.

When I had my 96 sporty I installed some friscos which are 7" rise. I removed the tank to free up some slack. On my 04 I just installed new bars with about 8" of rise and didn't have to do anything for wires or cables. I know it's two different answers but you really just kind of have to mess with it to see what it's going to take

Thank you I like those answers. So it's there I just need to find it. I think I'm going to try the risers with the buckhorns for comfort level . I'ld like the end result just about shoulder high or just below. Sounds like that should be fine.
