I have a 2012 Nightster that I'm having trouble with the headlight. The low beams are working just fine, but the high beams are not. I thought it was the bulb, so I bought a new one and replaced it - same problem still exists.
This started after I moved my speedo back to my bars from a side mount last weekend, but I didn't touch any wiring related to the headlight in the process. I only unplugged the speedo and plugged it back in.
I checked all the fuses, and they are fine. I checked where I have some zip ties on the headlight wire, and they didn't seem too tight.
My only mods are air intake, pipes, and XiED 14's - so I don't think there's anything there that would cause this. Plus those were done over a year ago and this problem just started.
Also check the connector you disconnected and make sure the pins inside aren't bent and aren't recessed into the connector. Push on them and make sure they don't move. They may be sliding back into the housing when your connecting them.
Well bad news...got the voltmeter and checked the switch - checked out ok. Problem now is that the headlight doesn't work at all. Woke up yesterday and it just didn't work...no clue.
I'm going to check the light housing again to see if there's a grounding issue somewhere, and then move on to the wiring harness plug to see if it came loose somehow. No idea how that would happen though as it's taped real tight to the frame under the tank and I'd be surprised if it came loose.
