Smile Ape hanger install???

Just a quick question, i sat on a 72 at my dealer and loved the mini apes which are 10". I want to fit them on my iron but would like to know what height ape hangers or possibly risers i can fit without changing the cables/wires etc if possible??

you should be ok with just the bars, but it might be really tight. If you want just get a set of 12 inchers and a cable extention kit by burly and call it a day.

I would say 10" in the max you could go. I have 8" bars and everything fits fine..i even have a little play with my stock brake line but it should be changed. Don't forget the 72 has 10" mini-apes but with 2" risers.

ah, didnt realise they had 2" risers too, so do you need risers or would my standard clamps be ok? Really would like to do it with out a cable kit if poss because the postage is high plus i get stung with customs charge otherwise i would prob order a burly kit.

then if you don't use the risers you should be ok, but it might be tight. But you should be fine without using risers. Just take the old bars off and put the 10" mini apes in its place, shouldn't take you too long.

you will have plenty of room. i installed a set of 10" mini's on my nightster and everything worked fine. you shouldn't even have to replace the front brake line if you carefully bent the brake line to fit. Just decide if you want to internally run the control lines, that will impact your bar selection.

Need to replace the rubber bushing to a polyurethane or they will move on ya. Almost learned that the hard way.
