Default Newbie with electrical problems

96 883. I'm new to the two-wheeled world and having issues. As I was about a block from home, my speedometer and odometer quit working. The front turn signals are permanently on with no rear signals. I took the seat off and with the key on, I can hear something clicking and the light will briefly blink. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

Turn signal module gone bad? Do you have circuit breakers or fuses?

Circuit breakers. How can I test the turn signal module?

Well the first breaker was the culprit on the clicking noise I was hearing. It was rather warm as well...

The breakers are self resting, so there might be a short. If the key's off and it's still clicking the short's between the breaker and ignition. Look for exposed wires under seat, backbone to ignition. TSM is under speedometer on backbone.

It will click once after turning the key off. I pulled the tank and went through everything as well as I could to no avail. I also noticed that I am not able to switch it to -low beam-. Stuck on high. I pulled that breaker and turned the key, no clicking. It is the first breaker on the left side of the bike so I am trying to figure out where all to inspect for that breaker. Pisses me off, only had it a few weeks and this is the first dry, decent weekend. Wanted to be riding right now! Oh well... it being down may save my relationship because any spare time I have had, my butt has been on that seat! ha

With key on, front signals should be lit up as they are running lights, and the rear signals should not be on as they are not running lights. Try checking the 90* slip on connections to the coil. You should pull them off the coil studs, give them a good squeeze, and slide them back on to the studs. Also check all four battery connections, as the actual wire connector where the wire is soldered into the fitting has been know to come apart only giving you sporadic power.
