48?
Pub crawl - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Does indeed mean to go from one bar/pub to the next drinking at each. So when someone asks if a certain bike would be good to use for "Bar Hopping" they are talking about drinking at a bar, then getting on their bike and going to another bar to drink some more, again, and again, and again. If you and they are talking about doing anything else OTHER THAN DRINKING WHEN YOU OR THEY GO FROM BAR TO BAR, then you and they are the ones using the wrong terminology to describe what you or they mean.
I for one, don't think any bike (or other vehicle) would be good for "Bar-Hopping" since I don't believe in drinking and driving at all.
Just like when explaining a "CAFE Bike", Cafe literally means a Cafeteria a place one would go to have a sandwich or a cup of coffee but in the motorcycle world "SLANG" it means a Cafe racer, a strip down motorcycle that places the rider over the fuel tank and is very nimble and fast.
BarHopper - means going from bar to bar NOT literally but meaning short rides, The link below will help you understand the "Biker Lingo" I would advise you to read it thou some terms may very it will help you to understand what you may read on Any Motorcycle Forum from here on out..

And I only say this because it's a fairly rare occurance to have someone here talk about their Sportster in a negative way, outside of the one or two unfortunate souls who seemed to have gotten a lemon or had extremely bad dealership experiences.
[The most complaints I've seen are that the factory seat is good for about an hour before it feels like you're sitting on pavement and @ 2.2 gallons the tank is too small; udder than that it rawwwwwwwks]
That said, you know you want one, so buy it!
And that sir is my "updated" internet forum advice to you; all betterer now?
LOL.

Again, sorry, I have only been riding bikes for 47 years and haven't really hung out with the hard core bikers that have memorized all the biker lingo that I guess I should have set to memory like you must have done. Hell, I don't even think there was a biker lingo dictionary when I started riding bikes, but I may be wrong about that too, so I'll apologize for that in advance.

I sold my 1010 Kawasaki Z1000 to get the 48 because I realized that the speed generated by the big Z really belonged on the track and the 48 is the "back to basics" true motorcycle experience that I love so much. "It ain't about the speed, it's about the ride" rings true for me. While the 48 certainly isn't the fastest, the most comfortable, the most powerful or the most sophisticated bike I've owned, it damn sure is the most fun to ride.... and THAT'S why I ride!
So I would guess that "we" feel all over the place on the '48, just like "we" do about every other bike! I would venture to say that most who own one will say that it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, which wouldn't surprise me in the least, unless they had an Iron, in which case those guys would say that their Iron was the best thing since sliced bread, while the guys who have the softtails will say that...
'Best to decide for yourself instead of letting everyone else decide for you.

I prefer the Iron. Test drove the 48 and then the Iron, obviously selected the Iron, but that's just me.
It doesnt have to be "made for a 48" to work. If something from a 32 Ford catches your eye you can incorporate it into your bike. The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
