I stand corrected! You're right.

Very well said!

It has caused more favorable comments and looks and started more conversations than any other bike I've owned and believe me, there have been a few! The paint and finish are perfect and I love the color as well. Quite honestly, I've never been happier with any other motorcycle I've owned. It's small enough that getting it out to ride isn't an effort and pushing it around it no problem (for washing or installing components.) And while at the present, there aren't a ton of accessories for this model, I have a feeling that will continue to change.

I sold my 1010 Kawasaki Z1000 to get the 48 because I realized that the speed generated by the big Z really belonged on the track and the 48 is the "back to basics" true motorcycle experience that I love so much. "It ain't about the speed, it's about the ride" rings true for me. While the 48 certainly isn't the fastest, the most comfortable, the most powerful or the most sophisticated bike I've owned, it damn sure is the most fun to ride.... and THAT'S why I ride!

And since most of those things also are associated with drinking when at bars, is why I made my comment. What you are calling "bar hopping" we just called "short hops" for the last 47 years. I do know a lot of riders that call it "bar hopping" when they go out riding and drinking from bar to bar, I guess they are all wrong too.

Again, sorry, I have only been riding bikes for 47 years and haven't really hung out with the hard core bikers that have memorized all the biker lingo that I guess I should have set to memory like you must have done. Hell, I don't even think there was a biker lingo dictionary when I started riding bikes, but I may be wrong about that too, so I'll apologize for that in advance.
There are many terms I hear I have no clue what they mean and for memorizing "The Lingo" I am far from that but owning a couple sportster's and a Patriot 95 ci. Rigid over the last 18 years I have heard that term many times.

My original post was just to clarify the meaning I thought the OP was expressing (to inform, not meant to upset), then you came back with a definition of an entirely different word/phrase in the attempt to prove a point, so I thought I would explain a little better and add a link to help you understand the expression. But still you come back with more sarcasm. It's like the old term you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink, I guess in this conversation you're the Horse. I am respectful that you have managed to ride for 47 years as it is a feat that some on this forum has yet to accomplish but I am not part of that group. Good day..

I always thought the term bar hopper didn't literally mean going form bar to bar (though it could). I mean, what does it matter what kind of bike you're on if your doing that? Its meant more to describe a bike whose only use is for very short trips.

I have a 2006 Z1000 that I just can't part with; too many mods in it. Bought the 48 and now I enjoy both. I love having that contrast of sitting on top of a bike and then riding something more laid back but still fun to ride.

Do mostly communting and canyon carving on the Z; and cruising, barhopping on the 48 j/k couldn't help myself.

I went to the dealer to look at an 08 custom sportster. Saw the 48 and owned it a few hours later. It's my first bike and obviously my first Harley.

All I can say is choose your bike like you choose your wife. You'll know if its your bike.
