I took a gamble. The shocks are def quality but too low for the seventy two as the oil tank bottoms out on the belt guard (denting it). This happens riding solo. I'm 6'3 180lbs. I ride 2up as well so they are always at full tension. Anyone else try these? (Not a complaint, hope this helps someone). Obviously I have a set of black Lick's shocks for sale with low miles hahah.
$200+. Not too bad. I'm torn actually. I have 10in rigid struts w a spring seat and the stocks to choose from. I like the ride of the bike sitting low waaay more than stock. However, It obviously changes the rake a bit but not much.

I hear you. Used to be when I sat on the stealerships 48s I wished my Nightster was that low (our stock shocks are 13"). Then I got my 11.5" RK shocks and the bike is much lower. Now my priorities have changed and I'm even thinking of switching back to stock since they're lighter than the RKs.
That will happen with all the 10" shocks. I have them on my 48 and my oil tank hit the upper belt guard. Easy fix, remove guard and ride.I've been running without the guards for a few years with no problems.
Wow thanks! Glad I posted this now. I've been wondering about removing the guard. No instructions came w my shocks. hmmmm. The stock 72 shocks are 12's.
I didn't remove the guard thinking that if it slammed the guard, it would possibly cut through the pulley if it dropped that low.
So those of you that have removed the guard:
-Do u ride 2up? any issues?
-any other issues bottoming inside the rear fender?
I was assuming that the guard was stopping anymore damage to other parts.
You should be fine with removing the guards. Most people take them off. I have riden 2 up a few times and never had any issues. Depending on how much weight between 2 people, you might bottom out a few times on bigger bumps. I have never bottomed out my bike though. The Licks shocks are pretty firm. I am 125lbs and the most I have had on my bike with 2 people would be around 250lbs.
