I went for a great ride today with my dad.....he came down here for Father's Day to go riding with me.....I went on some familiar roads and eventually made a few turns so we could get lost.....we went on some really nice winding roads, it was great....it was the best ride I've had yet......I get all stressed out when I get lost.....guess what I just went with it and kept on riding.....
We stopped for a bathroom break....thank god I found somewhere to stop..lol....and we found our way back home(thank u iphone!) .....it kinda sucked cause I had to take a major highway back home and there was lots of traffic but the ride out there was awesome......so to all those who never got lost you should try it......for those that have and posted about it, thank u for the inspiration.....today was really the first day I think I truly understand riding.....I wasn't worried about anything....just ridin in the wind!.....ryan
Glad to hear you and your father had a nice day riding!
My most memorable time getting lost on the bike was when I lived in ND. I went out on a summer day and ended up at the Canadian border. Needless to say, without having my passport on me and being followed by Border Patrol for a while, it made it all worth it!
I got lost today as well, took me a few hours to get home but I refused to use my S3 to map a course home. I just used the sun and a general sense of direction. What a great day
If I'm going on unfamiliar roads, I take my iPad.....sometimes I'll look before I go.....and I might make a map too....just in case, as a backup.....it really comes in handy.....I'd get a GPS but I wouldn't use it that much.....I usually check for gas stations too.....again, just in case.
Well, good for you, and your dad! Perhaps next time, navigate back by iPhone and exclude highways in the navigation app. You'd need a bluetooth headset in your helmet, of course.
