Default 2013 iron 883 question

Ok I bought my iron 883 last Wensday. I have done a ton of research on the top and haven't found exactly what I'm looking for(please spare look it up comments) I have tried. Now I'm looking to change the pipes for more sound. I understand I have to change the intake and do some kind of tune! I am not looking for performance I just want to install my short shots. So what combo would work for exhaust/intake/tune that is basic that will make the bike run 100% with the short shots thank you! And please help

Look at powercommander.com, they should have a tune but you would have to drop the coin for a pc5.

Congrats on the new Iron and welcome to the forum!

Here's the deal...if you're just going to install short shots there is nothing else that you have to add, unless you add an intake, in which case you'll then have to do something like installing XiED's or a tuner.

=8^)

I like the way the bike looks with the stock intake and don't care about a tune! I just want some sound had a 92 sporty 1200 with short shots and that's what I'm used to. I even called vance and hines and they said that if I change the pipes I must!!! Change intake and get a tune of some sort I just want pipes and a fully functional new bike with no problems!

I had a nightster with short shots. I had the SE tuner with the SE stage one intake. It made a huge difference in how the bike ran. Definitely more throttle response and pull. Not to mention the bike ran cooler. I did dyno that bike.

I have the PCV on my slim and have been really happy with it as well. It has eliminated the running issue I've had on the slim and it runs much cooler as well. The nice thing about that is it was plug and play out of the box. No dyno necessary.

If you like the look of your air cleaner the se stage one fits under that cover and is relatively inexpensive. I don't have any experience with the XIED or VIED so I couldn't say there. I know a lot of guys have been happy with fuel moto and you can find some deals on them. Their customer service is great.

Thanks for the info so rubbing the short shots with the se intake that looks stock along with the pcv would all be smooth sailing? And here is another question the power commander is just take out of box and tune somewhat like a car tuner? Very new to this with programming a bike. Do I need to order some kind of custom tune for the specific exhaust/mods I have for it to work 100%?

IF I remember correctly the pc5 can self-tune or you can download a map to it from the power commander website.

My PCV worked out great with my stage one and slip ons for the slim so I would think it would work out well for your setup too. It is way more cost effective than the route I went with my nightster. Including the dyno the mods on the nightster cost me 1500.

Actually when you order the tuner you just let the fuel moto folks know what kind of pipes and a/c you're putting on and they'll pre-load a map on it for you. If the map is a little off then you can download the maps off their site. Pretty easy. The map they downloaded on mine was pretty sweet. Runs great and my 103 gets 42mpg.

If you're fairly savvy you can go in and tweak numbers for the map on your computer. You can also get an autotune option for the pcv but if you're going that route you may want to look into the PV.
