Not really up on the evo sportys, need to know confirm head torque specs for stock 883 using torque wrench? Is it torque 1234 or is it 1 4 2 3 in four steps finishing at 42lbs ?also when retorquing after leaving overnight is it just the final retourqe of 42 lbs or redo in four steps?
If I did this incorrectly should I loosen off and retorque correctly?
Thanks scuba , I didn't do it like the torque wrench method in the link , I did criss cross to 42, any recommendations if I should loosen off and retourqe as shown in the tourque wrench method to 42 or will this cause issues with the head gasket loosening then retourqing? Gotta get this right.
I would go by the service manual. It torques up to a certain value and then does 1/4 turn after that. It's the way it was designed and the torque wrench method is just an approximation of the actual method.
Make sure to loosen them equally and slowly. If you don't follow the order tightening/loosening you can snap the casting. That's why the procedure is there.
