The Dunlop pretty much ignored many little inconsistencies in the road surface and road smoothly over them. Bottom line, the 80/90x21 has never let me down. I do give the C II credit for being a good looking tire and it may grow on me.

Talking about a skinny 21" wheel, my 73 MAICO had a 2.50x21 inch front wheel and my ridin buds used to tease me about my 21" razor blade.

not doggin ion ya but that tire does look shitty, it doesnt look like it would handle worth a crap "sporty tire" that is

I have riden in the rain, wet leaves aswell on many tires. And yeah, you get where you are going, and back home on stock tires. You just have to pick your lines better and go a bit slower on stock tires. Just today I hit some curves I like to cut up on the weekends. Just a couple months ago I had to go 15 mph slower and my tires skipped out from under me. Today, and since I replaced the stock tires I hit them 15 mph faster than stock tires, no skipping, just glued to the road.

For you the stock tires are "just fine". Aint no way in hell they are 'just fine' for me. Just the way the cookie crumbles bro. You eat over your plate, I get that **** all over my lap and shirt then wipe my face with my sleeve.

Some people are simply happy with the stock tires and never use anything else. As long as they never know any better, they will think what they've got is just fine.
As they say, ignorance is bliss!

May sound dumb but same vintage as in sportster 1200 custom and year. I am not to familiar with HD part swapping. I suppose I could see if there is anyone who wants to swap a 21 for a 19 tire and wheel. Will see.

The 19" tire would be a 100/90x19

CHarley, you say you went with a 19 inch and wider tire. You aren't talking
the wide car tires they're putting on the front these days. I like my lace 21 inch since I took your advice and put a pair of Metzlers on, but then I don't
carve the twisties in NC like you do all the time.

You need a 08 or later for compatibility.

You could carve some mean corners with the metz up front on the 21". My home is in MI but work means long periods of time in NC. My 21" front does it all. Today I was running curves 15mph faster on my Shinko 777s than I could with the stock tires, and the stock tires would skip out from under me going slower.

I got an 07 so a 'fat' 21 is all I can do easily. Every aspect of the ride is different after ditching stock tires. To the OP, even a better non stock 80/90 will ride better but a 90/90 will change the ride for the better even more. Motor cycle super store has tons of reviews and even ships to intallers if you need someone to do it for you. Find a brand with lots of good reviews and order. I bought a set of Shinkos for $117.00 shipped to my door in 40 hours. Can not beat that.

On a side note, I did alot of super slab miles on the stock tires. At 9000 miles the front tire was done. It is my belief that it has nowhere to dump heat. The sidewalls showed typical heat dry rot and traead was not looking good either. Rear was so hard and fat it handled heat just fine and had atleast 8K left on it. New 90/90 has more tread depth so it will probably last as long as the rear (10K) if I do mostly super slab, but I dont see that happening in the next year. So if you do a bunch of highway miles expect more wear from the front 21". And that was running at the psi Harley and Dunlop said to run. Just some observations.
