I've see guys talk about adding a 1-1.5 inch spacer between the front spring and the fork-cap, pre-loading the spring a bit, I'd like to see some pictures of this spacer please.
I have tried a 1 inch PCV schedule 40 pipe but it is not the correct diameter to fit into the fork pipe so what do we use to add 1 - 1.5 inches of lift? Washers? 3/4 inch pipe? 1 inch pipe split to trim and fit?
advice requested.
PS: I have made the hand clamp for pressing the cap-nut into place as I close the fork tube.
You would need to use .75" Sch40. The amount (length) that you would need to cut honestly is specific to you. This is a pain the *** sometimes to get right off the bat because your fork oil weight (indirectly), springs and rider sag play a roll into ideally how you cut that "pipe". most folks go with cutting the pipe somewhere between .75-1.25 sticking above the fork tube. You have to remember to add the amount of threaded length from the fork cap as part of your pre-load calculation.
