I was wondering if someone can help me. I am getting ready to go to the dealer to get a s/e ac kit and already have v&h short shots. Can some one tell me what jets i should get for a base to start tuning? Thanks for all your help.It is a 06 883c.
A 45 slow and if you want to change the main you need to go to a 180 because 175 is the stock jet if I remember correctly. My dealer said you don't need to change the main on an 06 883.I didn't and mine runs great.make sure you get allen head screws for the float bowl. You will need a screwdriver that doesn't get wider after the tip.I custom ground one down.
45 & 180 are the correct jets for the 883. I'm not sure about the size of the screws. I bought a kit on ebay that included the jets, instructions and allen head screws.
I have SEII slip on, my jet sizes are 42 pilot jet, 185 main jet. I only replaced the main jet because the dyno test shows I need to add more fuel on the main circuit only, I didn't touch my pilot jet. You can only get a general answer here because every bike runs differently, without the proper dyno test, you have give it a try. My buddy got the same 1200 as mine with SEII slip-on, after the dyno test, it shows that he needs a pilot jet instead of main jet, you never know.
I asked my dealer yesterday if they had replacement allen-head screws for the carb and they said no. So, I figure it's something we'll have to get at a hardware store. Unless someone here knows an easier place to get them.
