I am looking for a second bike for the Wife to ride and around town bike for me. I am going to look at a 2005 XL883C in the morning. Stage one, nice pipes and some chrome. Very clean with no oil leaks spotted. One thing is the 21 in front tire replaced with a 19 ? mag which I like. Tires have less then 3K on. Asking price 3999. Problem 35,000 miles....... Is this too much ??? Look like it was service on time and well cared for.
Seems kind of high to me, but you are in FLorida and I don't know prices there. Here in AZ it would seem like too many miles for that price. Maybe someone in your area will respond and be of more help.
35,000 miles should be no problem for the bike. That price is just his starting point in my opinion. He must be expecting to negotiate. I'd say $3,250 - $3,500 would be a nice closing price.
that's a good year for a sportster. yeah, $4,000 is too much, beat the guy up! as the guys in the forum know, i really believe in a pre-purchase dealer inspection! save yourself some money by having a shop you trust look the bike over! it's a no-brainer! cheers from montana
Best idea yet! When I bought my 07 XLC it had just over 1400 miles on it. And got it for $500.00 more than that 35x the miles two year older bike.
Beat him up and if looks worth $3500.00 then go for it. Another good idea and what I did was after checking it out and money was now the topic. I negotiated with the wife, had the amount of cash I was willing to spend in pocket minus 500 I gave to my buddy he was holding so I could "borrow" it from him to buy it if price was a little more in the end than I could get. Wave the cash in her face. If there is no woman, just battle it out, and flash that wad of cash. Bunches of cash always works.
IMO you could get a much lower mileage EFI bike for not much more money at all. I have seen 07 and up 883's going for $5k and under alot here in Ohio and any vehicle in Ohio sells higher than alot of states. The bike sounds ok, but I just think for a bit more bank you could have a newer lower mileage bike. Like was said $3200 would be the sweet spot.
As for the 19" wheel. Alot of guys hate the 21" wheel since the bike does not handle as well with it as with the 19" and also the 19" tire seem to last longer. I have a 19" front now and have had a 21" and the 19" does indeed handle better.
