Welcome. Ya, lots of good advice on hear. I bought my first bike used. Got a great deal on a Nightster with tons of custom work done to it. 883's are pretty easy to find a good deal on because they have been around for a while and a think a lot of people traded them in for a bigger motor. You can find 48's used as well, but not for much less than new, since they have only been out for a few years. I wanted a 1200 and liked the looks of the Nightster (even stock) better than anything else. Then I found the one I bought that had a 250 wide tire kit, SIK pipes, raked out front with a 150 wide tire, custom paint, etc etc, and that was it!
I searched for a few months for the right bike while I did some homework. I checked Craigslist, CycleTrader and eBay regularly.
Go to a dealer and take them both for a test ride and see what you like. Good luck hunting!!!
Greetings from Savannah, Ga, TIME. My nephew found a wrecked 06 XL883L in an apt parking lot about to be towed off. Front end was mangled from another owners wreck. Long story short, I got the bike for $1,500.00. I've put about that much into the bike in repairs and upgrades and have a sweet ride. They are out there. Ya just have to keep the eyes open or stumble on one. Good luck man and keep us posted.
