Just got home from the HD dealership and was checkin out the new 2014 48. Looked at a few different colors but the Hard Candy Chrome Flake, and it looked AMAZING out in the sunlight. To make a long story short, I ended up taking a demo ride and loved it! Just was wondering what everyone out there thinks of the new 48?
I love the 48. I am not a fan of the metal flake paint though, way too gaudy for my taste. To each their own though. If that's your thing, I say go for it. I think you'll enjoy the bike overall. I know I enjoy mine. Let us know if you pick it up and be sure to post pics.
I picked up a 2013 back in june. For a background I've had a 1200c, Dyna WG and a couple baggers. The 48 is by far the most fun I've ever had on two wheels. At first, riding home from the dealer I was shaky as the stock seat makes the ride literally painful. You feel like the bike literally has no suspension as not only is the seat hard, but you feel every nook and cranny of the road.
I added a Mustang Wide Vintage Solo seat, slim profile, wide base, looks great on the bike. Not too wide and literally changed the entire bike. Cushioned the ride and allows me to ride all day without any issues. The profile of the bike gives you a slight lean forward riding stance, I find it to be very comfortable.
I added a PCV and Black Short shots, and some other etc. out the gate. The power for such a little bike is great in the curves. The front tire handles very well despite being larger over all.
I would say get it, and as for the peanut tank, the light comes on at about 60-65, but it gives me an excuse to stop and stretch for a bit.
Thanks guys! The chrome flake is definitely wild, I was going in looking for black, and then the chrome caught my eye. It looks pretty close to that color actually! In my opinion it looked way better than the Hard candy gold. its the same idea, huge flakes in chrome that shine so bright you cant look at it in the sun!! Ialmost got a 13 a few weeks ago but decided to hold off, and glad I did! The new ones have bigger brakes, digital tachometer/ gear indicator, and quite a few other small changes. Hoping to go pick it up within the next couple of weeks, throw a set of V&H Big Radius on and hit the road!
