Hey Taz61,
I ran into the exact problem you did on my 04 883C. $4500 was all I could get on a 1200 or a Dyna LR. Soooo, I bought a 1200 Conversion kit, set of V&H Slip-ons, SE AC lit and rejetted the carb. Bought some chrome and I'm the fastest, loudest, shinyest old Geezer in Louisiana. 1200cc and 883 gearing...better hold on Bro.
Hey Taz61,

I think I would rather do the 1200 conversion than take it in the a**,I know when said and done I will have paid 10K+ for my 06'883C with financing and only paid $7400 for it but the local dealer wouldn't do under $8900+ financingfor a custom so I took it[8D]
I know I didn't get the best deal around, but I have a new 1200c with no money down and payments slightly higher a month. Was it worth it to me? Yep.
BTW. The Sportie buy back is still into effect. It depends on the dealer if they really want to sell a bike. I had perfect timing. This is one of thehighest volumedealers in Dallas. I went to take my 883 in for the recall thing. I mentioned that I will eventually go to a 1200. The sales manager told me they only sold 3 bikes that day. They were desperate. It was about 5:00 on a Saturday. Next thing I knew, I was riding out with my new bike.
My only regret is that I get a big smile everytime I ride my 1200.LOL! What an awesome bike! I read about alot of money issuesin the Sportie section of this forum. I bought a Sportie because I wanted a Sportie. I have all my life. If I wanted a landcruiser with 2 wheels I would have purchased one.
Next. I always thought when you buy a Harley, you just started to spend the bucks. I really don't care if I got screwed or not. I do know that I will be spending much more than the bike is worth to make it my bike. Price isn't much of an issue for me. No, I'm not rich. I am fortunate enough not to have any large payments on anything but my car. That's going away. I love to ride. So if you have financial commitments that keep you from going for a bigger bike, your better off keeping it. If you want what will make you happy, money isn't an issue if you can afford to do so,
Get what you want.
I feel you Dallas,I probably won't get rid of the 06' Sporty but would love to have a V-Rod 1 day so maybe a swap since I do have another Sporty but doubt I do since I am more than happy just to have a bike
thats the problem, i did have a 2001 1200c for a couple of years, had to get rid of it, then bought the 06 883 cause i need to ride, was trying to save a few bucks keep the wife happy.
like that could happen, lol
