fender bag?
That said, if you protect the tank- it makes a good tank bag on a sportster and is ok on a dyna. the shape fits nicely onto the sportster tank and on long distance rides leaves the fuel cap open. Which is good since you have to stop every hour. It does have a well designed waterproof cover that works well with the straps and kept everything dry during a deluge at highway speeds from Natchez to St. Louis.
The shape of the bottom does not match the shape of my rear fender.

Her it is just sitting on the sportster:

The reason it is just sitting is that it is a PIA to get on and off if you want to use the bike when it is off. The half of the strap attached to the bike just dangles without the bag attached and would be dangerous hanging down into the belt and sprocket.
Here is a picture of using it as a tank bag, this was in east Texas headed for Alexandria. There is gaffers tape under the bag and the strap- this was before I learned about plastidip.

Bottom line: It works as a tank bag. I would not buy it again, modern magnetic tanks bags are better designed.

When using it as a fender bag I find the map pocket hard to see. :-)
This is how it sits on the rear fender of a 2000 FXDX (Sundowner solo seat). I stuff it like a briefcase (laptop, ipad, paperwork) an it sticks at ton-up speeds.

I need to move the plate to below the rear light- I just need to figure out the signals. Here is where the rear magnet hits prior to moving the plate.
