First, why does a bike that new need a battery? They should be good for several years.
As far as batteries, I'm running an HD battery. It's been working flawlessly in the slightly over a year I've run it so far and is much better than the Yuasa that the previous owner had in it. The HD ones really aren't that much more expensive than the aftermarket ones I looked at when you make sure to compare specs.
I have a 2012 1200 Sportster and it looks like I need a new battery. What does everyone recommend?
Thanks
So soon? I always go with HD. Sure, a certain manufacturer may be the same one that makes the moco battery but they also build it to the specs as determined by HD. I've always gotten great service life from HD batteries so I'll be sticking with them for that reason. Just my opinion..
Only 220 cca vs 310 cca of the JP I linked. I did the same comparison of batteries not long ago.
I saw that one at JP too but ended up going with the 2 year warranty battery from Batteries Plus vs the 1 year at JP. I also prefer being able to walk into a brick and mortar store if I have issues.

I wanted the extra oomph for my 1250 plus I ride all winter as well...lot's of cold starts.
