Default Stalling

I picked up a used 2010 XL1200C last month from a dealership. It had about 9600 miles on it at the time. This is my first motorcycle so this is all new to me. I have been using it primarily to commute to work. It's about a 40 mile round trip. Until today it has been running fine. When I leave for work in the morning, I stay in neutral and coast down a hill till I pull out onto the main road. As I was coasting, the bike stalled on me. This is the first time this has happened. Then it had some throttle issues while I was in second gear shortly after I left to go home after work. Once I merged onto the highway it ran normally for the rest of the way home. It has python exhaust pipes and a screaming eagle air cleaner. Any suggestions will be great.

Could simply be that the weather is a little colder now, so the bike was not as warm when you set off. Probably nothing to worry about! Don't free-wheel, but ride it in gear, that way the engine will warm up more quickly.
