Default Passing Lamps

I need your help. I have a 06 1200C. I am really considering getting HD passing lamps for it part Number 69284-05. Has any body put these on and have you had any p[roblems as Ill explain?????????????Heres mypotintial problem. The alternator puts out 22 amps at max, if you keep the rpms up over 2000 all the time. Ignition takes 5 amps, headlight takes 5, 7 to keep the battery charged . On a 20 mile average trip length, 2-3 for lights, that adds up to almost 20, leaving 2 amps to spare. a Single 35 watt driving lamp takes 2.5 amps, so a pair would put you over 3 amps for the charging system, meani ng your battery is in a constant discharge state.

The 7 amps you listfor battery charging would only be for the first one or two minutes to replace the power the starter used to start it, so you should be fine.

I have 2 35 watter passing lamps on '06 XL 1200 R and run high beam, plus the passing lamps, day & night, plus an additional LED tail/brake light, plus my 2610 GPS, for about 6 months now with no issues....

I have them on my 06 1200L (see pic below)and haven't had any problems at all. I have them turned on all the time when riding. I've never had a battery problem. I say go for it. I really like mine and those 4 wheel driversseem tolook at me longer and see me better then when I had only onelight.

I've had mine for a few years. This is not that uncommon an addition. Looks good and you are way more visible.

personally i love the lamps... makes u more visible. I never worried about taxing the system, and have only had problems, believe it or not, from the alarm draining the battery. To solve it i just use a battery tender when i'm not gonna ride the sporty for over a week.

If I'm using the bike at least a couple of times a week, no problems what so ever.

Get 'em, they're a good idea for adding some forward visibility to the bike. Mine were on when I bought it, I decided to keep them and glad I did. BTW, mine are wired to shut off when my main goes into high beam. No battery losses, either.

Thanks for adding a pic of your bike... great looking bike !! I've been wanting to add passing lamps to my bike, you've helped me make that decision. Are they HD lamps - part number? Difficult to install? Did you relocate the blinkers when you installed the passing lamps? Sorry for all the questions, but I'd like to get this mod done real soon. Any help, tips, step by step, pics would be appreciated greatly. Thanks!
