I usually pay 20 to 25 to have a new tire mounted and balanced off of the bike, so 14.00 for a new tube and 20 to patch the tire and the mount and balance itsounds about right.
Sounds about right to me, maybe a little high. Around here most guys just take the wheel to the local metric dealer (they're cheaper than the harley shops) for tubes or tire installs and they charge 18-20" to pull tires off and remount.
I'm the cheap bastard here. I would have just broken the bead, removed one side from the rim, and replaced the tube with one of the 6 buck ones from Jireh that I keep handy and been riding in less than 30 minutes.
I keep spare tubes and tires on hand for those "emergencies".
That price is due to people bringing their own tires in to be mounted. Shops don't like missing out on the markup (usually 100% or better) when they sell you the tire so they price their labor to make up for it. Seems like a simple repair would have been a little more reasonable, though.
