Out of the 10,000 miles of riding with no front fender over the past year I have never had a need to cover the area you are talking about. I do carry a bandana in my jacket incase I encounter rain, I don't leave it in the bike.
As for the bikes look horrible with no fender, not sure what you guys are seeing in that fender.
Been riding without a front fender on any of my bikes for years. Aside from a little spray in the rain, never been an issue and i don't cover the bike with anything,
Your mileage may vary.
I have been running no front fender for a few thousand miles with no issues besides water spraying in my face. I did add one of these fork braces to complete the look. I don't think it adds much support but looks better as the fender mounting tabs looked lonely on the forks with no fender.
My fender has been off mine now for awhile now I've not been hit with anything yet . But water all up in your face kinda sucks tho , some folks like front fenders others don't .
I think adding anything to the front of the engine to keep debris off is not something I'd want to do, not with the hot weather I ride in. I want the air flow.
To each his own on the fender/fenderless deal. Personally I'd never go without the fender, my bike gets dirty enough as it is with the fender on, I can't imagine taking it off, but whatever floats your boat. I do like some of the fork baces out there with the fenderless look, but from a purely functional standpoint, I'd never go that route.
Coil relocation, tank lift, amputating or getting rid of fenders are negatives on looks, functionality and resale value but to each his own.
All that is reversible dude and won't effect resale at all! Except for amputating, by that I guess you mean chopping, cutting etc.
How do you mean it's negative on functionality? Please tell me how functionality is wrecked with a coil and key relocation for instance? Deleting a front fender will get your face wet when its raining but it won't affect the bike in a negative way...
Please elaborate your thoughts...
I think he may mean that Some think Coil relo cuts the life of coil due to placement and vibration. Ignition relo slices a groove into the key at times and can stick. Tank lift allows less fuel (however small) capacity. I persoanally have difderent mods on some of my bikes and some are viantage stock (purposely) so I'm not on either side of that fence. Love form and function. Depends on the bike. Again, the small fuction issues that come with certain "form" doesn't bother me at all. On my HD I have all of the typical "form" mods and def is less function. It's dropped, it scrapes etc....love it.
I ran my sporty for a few years with no front fender and cut the rear off short as well. Was a long wet miserable experience on wet roads and while raining. Altough Although I love the look I wont have that as my everyday rider again. Maybe ill build another one day as a bar hopper though.
