Default Bassani muffler and air intake?

Hi All!!! First time posting!

I just ordered the Bassani mufflers for my 2007 low. Do I also need to replace/upgrade the air intake?

Thank you!

No, you don't have to do both at the same time. But you'll need to remap the EFI once you do upgrade the intake.

Default Bassani pipes..loud, vey loud but...

I got the Bassani pipes installed. They are loud. Very loud. But I'm wondering why the stock mufflers had an extra whole in them going into that pipe (sorry no very familiar with terms). Any idea hat that is?
I called Bassani and they told me to don't worry about it but I need to cover those wholes. I don't want water going into them and get rusted.

Those "wholes" LOL are for the factory exhaust crossover pipe, which connects the two stock mufflers together for what I believe they call "exhaust scavenging" - which apparently is a desireable effect, since it was used for many years. In the earlier years of the Sportster this pipe was out in the open, placed very obviously horizontally between the two pipes, but the newer models have this crossover pipe well hidden behind the rear muffler and is still in use today.

From the question you asked about the crossover pipe it appears you're using the factory bracket to attach the Bassani mufflers...but what puzzles me is this; if the Bassani's don't use the crossover pipe then why didn't they include a new attachment bracket? It doesn't make sense to me that they'd make you reuse this bracket that includes the crossover pipe, just to let it hang out there in the open to attract water and rust? Is there a possibility that you ordered the wrong mufflers? They can usually be had with or without the bung for the crossover connection gasket...

I'm not familiar with the Bassani's and it's early in the morning...sorry if I'm off base here!

=8^)

Hummmm, Im positive that you should not have any "holes" exposed except for the ends. I'd return them for something else. Rush makes an excellent product. I had their's on my 08 Roadster and they sounded great.
