I have an exhaust design that has been bouncing around inside my noggin now for a couple of weeks that I may someday put together. I have many years of fabrication skills that I rely upon and although I don't have all the tooling and machines available to me that I used to there are still some jobs I can undertake without having to go outside.

I've been in the aerospace welding/fabrication field and arena for close to 35 years and I could comment on the welding...but instead of getting yelled at for being ****, I like you will bow out of the conversation lest I cause some soiling and twisting of panties, hahaha!

Where you been anyway...and didn't you have some headwork done? How'd that all work out?

DrewBone,

Thanks for the support, as you stated, I'm not claiming these pipes are better than or going to replace anything currently manufactured. I am however, very pleased with the performance so far. I hope to Dyno the sporty in the near future; and promise to post the results. We'll know then whether the Franken pipes are "monster" or just another corpse.

Edit: BTW, and for the record, I didn't do the welds. They were done more or less as a favor. Cost me only $10( donation to a young girls mission trip). I certainly wasn't going to complain. However, when I build my next collector, I'll be doing the welds myself. Keep me posted if you decide build one yourself.

Regards

Rod

@ Rod,

thanks for your comment, the look I'd like to get is about the same as the pipes Paughco has brought out for rigid mounted EVO Sportsters:

Those look really good; I'm impressed that they have taken a retro approach to the exhaust. Probably due to the bobber trend right now. I'll be curious as to how they perform because the collector uses the same diameter pipe. If they are anything like mine, should be fine. Thanks for the pic. Keep me updated!

Regards

Rod

rodt,

One of these dayz I'll be cobbling something together, for myself and my son. I bought him an '02 Sportster last year and he's been slowly modifying it to his likes. He's asked me to make him a set of duals, and my design will be a 2 into 1, even though I'm not a real fan of the design.

I most certainly will post up some pics when I get it in gear!

your taste and mine seem almost identical..i feel like I have to change it up to be me.....more..... looks like your running a fatty front tire. Same rim or did you change it out? hows the ride?
my goal is to make the bike give all she has on the road at a stable speed before doing any mods to the engine.. you know one handed at 70 with the feet up?

Thanks, I'm running stock 16" wheel in rear and stock 19" wheel in front. The tires are: Firestone ANS 500-16(rear) and Firestone ANS 400-19(front). The front firestone has a 28" diameter(2" larger than stock OEM Dunlop's) Had to create a bracket to raise the fender 1". The rear firestone is oversized diameter; but only 1", no clearance issues at all. They handle well; but will take a little getting used too. Overall I am very pleased with them; they are a very good multi-surface tire; grip well on wet pavement and are exceptional on dirt, mud(self cleaning) and gravel.
