Default Winter Work

So I have been reading these forums for a long time, but have never posted.
I decided to do work to my bike over the winter and the snow did slow me down a little since I don't have a garage to work in, other than the fliptop one I store my bike in.

I have most of the bike stripped down, and spent today labeling and pulling off the wiring harness.

My goals for this bike are:
1. New bars: T style bars.
2. Custom tank (got one off ebay that I stripped and going to mod a bit)
3. Hide wiring on bike-Internal wiring of backbone and new Handlebars.
4. Relocate key, coil, ECM, horn and L.Plate
5. Speedo relocation (side mount or in new tank) depends on if I get the tank done before mid-may.

Optional/future work:
1. Exhuast: 2 into 1, or short shots haven't decided.
2. air shocks
3. Chop rear struts and fender.
4. New Paint
5. 1/4 fairing or short wind screen since I'm on the highway a lot.
6. adjust power componets to better handle heated gear.

I'm looking to have the first section done in time for Americade. I'm at the point now where I need to start figuring out how to best clean up the harness and where I want to put the fuse block. I don't plan on reusing any of the ugly plastic eye sore that factory protects the wiring.

Picture of various work thus far.

Feel free to ask me quetions about my plans, I will try to post updates a few times a week. And thank you to all the other modders out there that gave me some cool ideas for my ride.

So I spent the day working on the wiring harness and checking the mesurments for my wire runs and new ecm location.

Got a few holes drilled in the frame, and decided to replace the stock fuse block with an aftermarket one.

I might have to use something else for the relays, but will see when the block gets here tomorrow.

I tell you the stock harness is 1. a pig, and 2. no one took pride in thier work. There are wires pulled through other runs for diffrent conectors and down by the fuse block everything is all twisted up and a general mess.

I got everything labled and zip tied a few bundles together, and marked out what needs extra wire runs to make the bundels nice and neat. Probably only going to reuse about 1/2 of the stock harness at this point since its just such a mess to begin with.

I didn't take any pictures since I finished it was too dark and way to cold with all this wind, but for info I'm moving the ECM to underside of frame, its basicly going to sit under the rear section of motor just in front of the rear brake switch plate (which has to be removed in order to acess that section of frame.

ECM is getting a nice patch of conformal coating anywhere water may enter just to be on the safe side, and adding some metal brackets/rubber to keep it in place. the rubber will also act to keep water and road grime away from the harness connectior, heatsink side down.

I was going to mount it to the rear tire side of the battery box, but I wanted semi easier access to it, so I'm moving a few of the extra delpi connectors and wands back that way with the diagonstic connector being attached to battery box restraint strap. Gonna look nice and clean when done.
