If I were to make an inch or so hole in that plug would my bike run like poop?
I wish I woulda bookmarked the link. A guy did dyno runs with just the disc popped out of stock slip ons and they produced 93% of the numbers as the best aftermarket pipes.
Not bad for a free mod. No bragging rights on money spent, or any street cred points here on the forum. Who cares if you are a curve carver and have no concern for image.
Not sure if there is anything to take a picture of... the plug is about half way up the baffle tube ( the part dropped out of the muffler in DK's video,) and was likely punched out with a metal rod and hammer... one or two good whacks in each and yer done. It's pretty much just a straight through pipe now. The baffle still absorbs a lot of the noise when cruising but when you twist the throttle it makes a racket. You can also buy a long drill bit and drill a smaller hole in the plug... either 3/8" or 1/2" and it will improve the sound over stock without annoying the neighbours or LEOs if you live in a noise abatement community.
One thing you need to be sure of... the newer bikes (maybe '08 and up?) have a catalytic converter...not sure how they are baffled, you'll have to research that.
