how do you unfreeze a freeze plug?

i'm thinking drill a couple of holes, make a hook, heat it up and try to pull it out?

I have used an automotive dent puller (slide hammer with a screw on the end) to get out freeze plugs.
&nbsp\\;
In an engine block you can also tap on one side of the freeze plug with a punch and spin it in the hole.&nbsp\\; Then grab the plug with a pair of channel locks and pull it out.&nbsp\\; I don't know how well this would work in your case.

The slide hammer is the best way. You should be able to rent one from a local auto parts store.

I always hit a corner with a chissel and hammer the bend in on an axis and then grab it with vise grip and pull out.

Don't heat it, that will make it expand and tighten it more.
