Default Mean City Seat Mods...Anyone Done It?

Has anyone sent their stock 883 seat in for modification by Mean City Cycles? I'm torn between upgrading the stock seat to memory foam and increasing the reach by 1" or maybe going with a Mustang or LePera.

I had them modify my Sundowner. I asked them to drop and narrow the seat and add memory foam. I would do it again. Great company to work with. Way cheaper than a new seat. Talk to Alan, he was great. If you want it done call now, they have a waiting list. Once your scheduled turn around is fast.

I did it. Went with the super narrow. Happy how it came out and Allen was great to work with.

I sent them a mustang solo daytripper which was surprisingly very uncomfortable for me, they put a tailbone channel in it and repadded. Definite improvement, but what they couldn't do was make it wider or thicker (mustang doesn't leave extra material underneath.) Went with a mustang wide solo, very comfortable. My 3rd such seat over the years, but had wanted to try the daytripper. So, I'd say they do good work, it depends on your size and weight and the seat pan they have to work with.

I've had Mean City do a few seats for me. It is also pretty easy to do yourself.

I have done several.

Pull the cover off by removing the staples, pull the plastic barrier off and save it.

Get an orbital sander and shape the foam to fit you butt. While you are at it you can even cut up a bit of a comfort foam pillow and spray glue it in the spots you want.

Put the plastic barrier back on. Use an electric staple gun and put the cover back on.

Here's a link to a step-by-step with pics on how I did one-

I've never had a Harley seat done, but they did two Yamaha seats for me and they turned out great. Just be sure to give each seat a couple of thousand miles to form to your particular bum.
