Ok I drive a Electra Glide with a 7 1/2 " headlight , but my sis just bought anew Iron 883 it has a 5" headlight , but the bulb looks different mine has a silver dome over the end of it and hers has a black grayish dome over the end of it ! When she rides behind me her headlight is dimmer than others , can beary see her in a mirror ! What's up with that ? Anyone these have replaced or modified to fix problem ?
go by the dealer and get the high output bulb. ( Part number 67074-02). it's $25 and almost as good as led... and if it fails, it can be easily replaced by a sylvania H4 bulb from any auto parts store or walmart... Things that are available in a pinch.
if you go led ($325+) and have a failure.... you're SOL until you can get to the dealer or the new part gets delivered.
Try this cheaper option first. if you aren't satisfied, then blow the $ on LED. I did it because i was blind on canopy roads and country roads down here in FL/GA. i was going to go led then i though about my long trips and the possibility of equipment failures... i am astounded by the difference between stock and these bulbs. i've heard that PIAA has some beastly bulbs too. but the Sylvanias will work as well.
wear gloves when installing and avoid touching the glass on the bulb.
Thanks buddy. tire penz are great see the sig. i tried duplicolor Hot wheels and it was a frustrating experience. tire penz did the job in minutes and came with "reflect" sprinkles to make the letters retro-reflective. thanks!
Sylvania ultra bulbs can be found on the web for half the price of the HD performance bulbs. Bought them for my wife's Iron and my custom, very noticeable difference in brightness and whiteness.
