Default '01 883Custom shock question...

I'm resurrecting a 2001 XL883C. The previous owner put Burley lowering shocks on the rear but it appears that they did nothing to the front and it handles like crap. I want to put stock shocks on the rear. Can someone tell me the correct length of stock shocks for that year? It appears that the shocks changed after 2004.

Not sure of the correct length shock for your 01. I do have a nice, clean pair of shocks off a Nightster for sale $50 shipped. Believe they are 11 inches eye to eye.

Thanks but I don't think 11" ones would be enough different from the 10" Burly shocks that are on it.

I think stock was 13" or 13.5".

I have a 07 883 Custom,13 is much higher then stock. Just installed a set of 13" shocks and it raised upped the back end considerably. Even with DK one inch lower block its still higher then stock height.
I also have the stock Custom shocks that I could part with.
07 Custom stock length is 11.5 measured eye to eye on the lowest setting.

It appears that they changed after 2004. Prior to that they were 13 3/4".

I could be wrong, have been before, but I believe the custom's shocks were 12". Google for '01 Custom Sportster specs. That should give a definite answer.

I can find all the specs except for the shock length. I measured a friends stock '03 1200 Custom and they are 13". I found a set on eBay so I'll give them a try.

Thanks for the info.

Hole center to center (approx). Your '07 is a different frame.

I found stock shocks for my '01 (13.5") now I have a set of Burly Slammer 10.5" shocks to sell, including the proper short kick stand.
