Forks bottoming out

2006 XL1200C, the front forks have bottomed out a couple of times. Don't like the sound or the feel. What's the fix, heavier oil or heavier, progressive springs?

yes, either heavier oil or springs...but, first is this something new???maybe the forks just need to be rebuilt i.e., the valveing has gone bad...

Has the fork oil ever been changed? Regardless of miles, the oil is 8 years old.

The stock fork springs are crap and become weak over time. I would replace them with Progressive springs and some new oil. Belray 7wt works well with them.

+1 on Ricor Intiminators. I have them on my wife's XL low. Day and night difference.

I'm very pleased with progressive 11-1527's in my Nightster. No more bottom out, use to do it all the time on the stock set up. I also went with Belray fork oil, I think I went with 10w if memory serves.
